Timeless Desk Accessories For a Digital Age

In an effort to work toward a paperless office, I have digitized a good deal of my information. No longer do I need an in/out tray, paper clips and other office essentials of yesteryear. Some things haven't changed though—I still prefer to have pen and paper to-do lists rather than digital ones, so I like to have little notebooks, cute paper and thin-tipped pens around. This memory card reader is compatible with over 40 kinds of memory cards: Source: momastore.org via Tazim on … [Read more...]

Home Organization — Best of 2011

2011 was, above all else, a time of major reorganization in my life. I graduated from university and moved from being a full-time student to working full-time. Physically, Greg and I moved  across country, which meant playing the 'beautiful or useful' game, trying to decide which items to bring with us. Clutter Above Kitchen Cupboards —Renovation Redecoration Project

Do your upper kitchen cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, or is there space above them? My mom's upper kitchen cabinets have lots of room above them—for dust. I am debating whether or not to put lights up there. It may seem like a good idea, but I know they'd never be turned on (we were raised to basically live in the dark). Another option is to add height to the tops of the cabinets—something decorative, perhaps with crown moulding at the ceiling.  As you can see—all the … [Read more...]

How Do You Organize Your Holiday Lists?

Do you keep a list, and check it twice—so you don't miss picking up something important or getting to do something fun with the kids? Every season, I like to make a list of things I'd enjoy doing or seeing. Christmas list Part of my list for the winter season: Learn to ski —This is the year of doing new things, and one thing that has been on my 'bucket list' for a long time is learning to ski. I now (again) live in the Rocky Mountains, so skiing can be a beautiful … [Read more...]

Targus Eco-Friendly iPad2 Case and Stylus Review

I used to see a lot of college students bring their laptops to class to take notes (and to keep updated on their friends' Facebook pages), but I'm sure this year more students will be bringing their iPad2 or other tablet devices to class. This case from Targus not only provides a cushy place to store and tote around your iPad2, it also has room for all your other school or work essentials. The Targus Spruce EcoSmart Mini Messenger for the iPad (ARV $39.99) is not only eco-friendly—it … [Read more...]

Venture iPad2 Case From Case-Mate Review

It would be pretty fair to say that the Venture Case from Case-Mate is my favourite iPad2 case so far! I like how the case encloses my iPad2 entirely, so that I know the screen and backside are well-protected. This may not be necessary at home, but when taking my iPad2 outside, it's nice to know that I can safely pop the whole thing in to my bag and be off. The Venture case is really comfortable to hold, because it is slightly padded, with soft felt-like material inside. I love the combination … [Read more...]

Do You Donate or Sell Clothing and Shoes? Beautiful or Useful?

It's hard to decide sometimes what objects to keep or get rid of. With clothing, I find this an easier decision. If it is: stained hole-y ripped beyond easy repair really faded, worn or stretched then I definitely put it in the donate pile. What about clothes with sentimental value? Maybe you might keep your wedding dress, a christening gown, your child's first day of school outfit. . .what other clothes hold sentimental value for you? For me, I have a few things that I am … [Read more...]
