I’m someone who loves to make lists of places I want to see and things I want to do. Of course, this is the perfect type of book for me. I don’t tend to use just one travel book when I’m trying to decide what to visit/view, but this one will certainly be consulted before I go on vacation. I like the descriptions, and the added colour in this new edition.
As soon as I got the book, I turned to the Canada section. In order to test out how good the book is, I looked at the pages for Alberta and B.C. to make sure that my favourite travel spots were covered. The first full page of the Canada section has Banff, Jasper and Yoho National Parks—located an hour and a half away from Calgary (to Banff, the southern-most part, that is). As you can imagine, being a huge nature buff, and traveller that I am, I spent quite a bit of time in the Canadian Rockies going to those National Parks. I was really happy to see the beautiful picture of Moraine Lake on page 911. We recently went on a trip to Moraine Lake, and as you can see, it is definitely worthy of a spot in this book:
At the bottom of Victoria Glacier, Moraine Lake is a gorgeous place to visit in Canada’s number 1 tourist destination.
I haven’t only looked at the 1000 Places to See Before You Die book just to make sure that my favourite places are represented, I’ve also been checking out places that I want to visit in the future. I have so many little Post-It note stickers in this book so far, so I guess I better start travelling again soon.
I’ve visited New Orleans, Louisiana and the French Quarter once when I was young (and we lived in Texas), but I’d love to go back as an adult.
