It smells like Christmas in my apartment thanks to Lush Cosmetics!

What does Christmas look and smell like? Well, bath-time products to help you whisk away the stress that is so common around the holiday season is one place to start. Special limited edition Christmas products from LUSH Cosmetics are available for your hair, face, and body – for that all-over Christmas-y feeling (and smell). I got a chance to check out some of the Christmas line recently, and scored a Christmas-y smelling apartment as a result. See below for my thoughts on the cruelty free holiday gifts I got to check out.

What is cruelty free? What is LUSH all about? Take a look at LUSH’s story.

To de-stress from all the holiday craziness – #selfcare all starts with LUSH!

I was most excited to try out the Tiny Hands massage bar, but I ended up finding the scent too spicy to regularly use. No matter, I will be using this massage bar after a soothing bath to add moisture back to my skin. My favourite product that I tried out is the Bûche de Noël facial cleanser ($12.95). It’s hailed as the “cool yule cleanser” on Lush.ca. I have combination skin that is on the sensitive side. In order to get all of the makeup and moisturizer off each night, I either have to use something really gentle that doesn’t clean very well, or something really harsh to make sure my face is clean. . .or I can just use this product from LUSH! It is almond scented, because it contains ground up almonds. you only need a tiny bit to clean your whole face and exfoliate your skin

Ground almonds gently exfoliate away dead skin while kaolin clay acts as a mild, deep cleanser. Then we add almond oil and seaweed to nourish and moisturize seasonal dry patches and leave skin softer than a freshly fallen snow.

A few of my friends were a wee bit jealous when they found out that I got to check out the Rose Jam Shower Gel ($10.95-$29.95). I don’t blame them, just listen to the description:

“Sweet, tart and wonderfully fresh, this indulgent blend of rose, vanilla and lemon will leave you smelling purely blissful.”

The combination of scents reminds me of strawberry jam. . .mmm. The scent lasts on my skin for hours after I shower. Having a warm shower is just the start of some #selfcare time, and Rose Jam makes it a relaxing way to begin.

The crumbly bits in Sandy Santa ($9.95) are (in part) actually sand. There’s also sugar in this lovely exfoliating santa-shaped bathroom treat. Back for a second year, Sandy Santa has been revamped with added coconut oil and butters to gently soften and moisturize skin. It’s a great way to add moisture buff your skin after soaping up with Rose Jam. This jolly-looking massage bar makes for a great stocking stuffer this season.

Not wanting to go through an entire shower ritual? Check out Snowcake Soap ($7.95) to quickly rinse off. This creamy, almond-scented soap has a bit of a fun side – see that gold-ish edge. Check out this video on how Snowcake is made:

How do you get in the holiday spirit? Dab on some of this Santa Baby Lip Tint before you head out!

Just a dab of this Santa Baby Lip Tint on your lips is enough to make them rosy-red. I don’t plan on using this for everyday lip colour, but around the holidays, with all those parties and events happening  – I will be using this under a clear lip gloss. I could do without the scent of this lip tint, and find that the texture is a bit pasty – but as I said  – you just need a dab on your lips to get lots of colour! I don’t find this particularly moisturizing, but that’s not really the purpose of this. I suggest that you either add this on top of lip balm or put some lip gloss on top of it.($8.95)

A few of my favourite things about LUSH:
-the lack of packaging for their soaps an many bath time products
-how products are made in my very own city (talk about buying local!)
-the pretty colours and delicious scents
-their labelling – with ingredients and signs denoting which products are vegan
-their social policies
-their no animal testing policies
and so many other things…

I’m excited to once again have yummy-scented LUSH Cosmetics treats this holiday season – especially since their newest Vancouver-area location is on the North Shore at Park Royal Mall in West Vancouver! I don’t have to skimp on the #selfcare since I can easily re-stock at my neighbourhood LUSH store! I will be picking up more of the cruelty free holiday gifts from LUSH Cosmetics that I received in order to write this feature.
