Whether you live in a rental place or own your home, spending a small fortune on window coverings isn’t very high on anyone’s to-do list. At the same time, window coverings make such a strong visual statement, while also performing valuable functions (privacy and blocking light to some degree).
Ideally, a set of blinds or drapes that are beautiful, yet functional would be sought-out. You need to think about colour, material, and pattern when it comes to your décor so that your window coverings won’t totally stand out and seem out of place.
I connected with Budget Blinds to check out their selection and quality. While they have plenty of options for different fabrics and patterns, I went with a fairly neutral shade of blue in linen. I wanted something restful for my bedroom that also blocked some of the light.
My walls are painted khaki or tan, so the blue linen works really well with the colour scheme, as you can see in the pictures below.
The blue looks pretty great with my bed frame and cushions, no?
The back side of these curtains is lined with a soft white fabric. This helps bock light and makes sure the pretty blue fabric doesn’t fade from the sun.
When my mom came to visit me, earlier this year, she helped me measure and hem the curtains I was sent. She’s been sewing her whole life. It’s not something I picked up, though. I’m glad she was around to help me/do all the sewing!
There were 4 panels in total that needed to be hemmed: 2 for my bedroom window and 2 for my dining room.
