Five Types of Therapy for Personal Growth

A personal growth journey is a journey that all of us can stand to take. Therapeutic services can be very helpful on such a journey. The following are five types of therapeutic services that can help us in our journeys:

Nutritional Counseling

Nutritional counselling can help someone in a variety of ways and for a number of reasons. Having an imbalanced diet can cause a person to have physical ailments as well as emotional and psychological imbalances. Depression and anxiety are two mental health conditions that can arise because of a nutritional deficiency. Muscle pain is a physical ailment that can come from the same deficiency. A nutritional counsellor can help a person uncover hidden vitamin and nutrient deficiencies and create a plan that fosters recovery from those deficiencies. Personal growth can come from getting the right nutrients every day. 

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a broad term that addresses a number of problems that can occur within a family. It can help in situations such as infidelity between spouses and teenage rebellion. Such therapy can also help families to grow closer and learn to communicate with each other more effectively. This type of therapy focuses on the wellness of the entire unit and strives to make the unit a more functionally sound family. Group counselling is a beneficial service that puts people together who share the same experiences. The benefit of group counselling comes from having supportive people around. Group counselling participants can also advise other people in the group and help that person feel less alone. Group counselling sessions are often available in drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities. They are also available for people who have experienced trauma in their lives. Participants can use them as standalone recovery tools, or they can add them to a list of helpful services they need to survive.  

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy focuses on undoing the negative effects that trauma has on people. Addictive behaviours sometimes form because people experience trauma in their life. Those addictive behaviours may include drug abuse, alcohol abuse, relationship dependency, and more. Trauma therapy can help sufferers to recognize the triggers that bring forth the addictive behaviours and find solutions to resolve those behaviours. 

Sometimes, it takes consultation to disclose a person’s needs. A facility administrator can speak to a prospective resident and gather information about that person’s needs. They can then come up with a solution that may best assist that person on the path to recovery and personal growth.
