Handmade gifts can be great for the male gift recipient in your life—just keep it classy, not too homey.
Hand-crafted hats
Greg bought a beautifully made hat in Mexico City when we were there a few years ago, and it is one of the most well-made hats he owns. Panama or otherwise, hats can dramatically change a look. Everytime Greg wears one of his nicer hats he gets complimented whilst walking down the street. If you think your guy wants to get a bit of (positive) attention, get him a slightly vintagey looking hat. I would, personally, love to be able to wear hats, but almost none of the ones I’ve tried on suit me. Still, I do dream of having a walk-in closet with dozens of hats on display from every era.
As someone who personally knows a hat-loving male (Greg) who loves to collect (and frequently wear) gorgeous, bad-hair-day-salvagers, I wholeheartedly recommend these lovelies for a holiday gift:

Made in the Garment District in NYC, Makins Hats Ltd. has classic hats in a variety of finishes, but they also do special orders/custom work.
Hand-made ties
If you’re going to be attending holiday parties, including a new year’s eve party, you’ll want your male gift recipient to look his sharpest. If your guy cringes when he has to wear a tie, maybe a slightly more fun bow-tie would get him interested.
