A mortar and pestle is an essential for the kitchen for mixing a variety of ingredients. A nice Stone (Granite) Mortar and Pestle is a quality piece that should last many years. What can you use a mortar and pestle for? Well, mostly we use ours for grinding spices, but you can make salsa, easily, by mashing up fresh tomatoes, onions, and spices.

A handmade mortar and pestle would make a great present, and there are tons that you can find that are good quality.
