If you’re like me, Holiday parties can sometimes seem like just another thing to add to an already hectic schedule. Given the amount of effort they demand, it can be tempting to just stay home. But, with all the things you have to do around this time of year, isn’t it also nice to be able to see your colleagues, friends and family in a setting where you can let loose and enjoy yourself?

There are a few things you can do to make your Holiday party prep run smoothly so that you can focus on the people you’re going to be spending time with, rather than spend hours searching for what to wear and wondering how to apply your makeup. Just because you want to create a major statement Holiday look doesn’t mean that you need to run around town to find pieces individually. Target has departments for each area of your Holiday party look from beauty to clothing to footwear.

Holiday Party Prep

First, choose a theme for your look. This will partly be based on the type of party you’re attending: office, dinner, cocktail, etc. I chose a vintage chic look. Think: classic pieces and colour combinations.

Second, pick out the main pieces. Before you start accessorizing, select the dress or skirt and top you’d like to wear related to your chosen theme. Maybe add a cardigan, wrap or blazer to your look if you’re so inclined. You can find them from online stores such as nolabels.in the comfort of your home. It not only saves time but also lets you explore a variety of styles, thus, helping you decide on your final look. I happily scoured Target’s clothing department because I love the variety of dresses, skirts and blouses found there. I selected a black Merona dress with white polka dots on it, which can be dressed up or down depending on the type of party. I then topped it off with a black Merona cardigan with black beads on it. It’s subtle, but adds a bit of sparkle to my Holiday party look.

Third, add shoes and accessories. How bold or subtle of a statement do you want to make with your Holiday party look? This will determine how much your shoes and accessories will stand out. I chose a subtle two-tiered necklace with matching earrings and Mossimo ballet flats with shiny embellishment. In Target’s shoe department there are high heels, flats and warm winter boots. There are myriad ways to change up your outfit to attend different Holiday parties by simply switching shoes. Accessories also help to get more use out of the main pieces you select. I topped off the look with a beaded headband and sweater tights.

Lastly, complete the look with makeup. The theme I chose (vintage chic) called for understated makeup, so I went with light lip colour, shimmery eyes and a smooth powdery finish to my skin. Target has a large beauty section where you can find everything you need for your hair, body and face.

Must-have accessories and makeup

To make a major statement, choosing the right accessories is key. Here are few of my favourites: A beaded leaf-pattern headband keeps the look fresh and youthful. If your legs get cold like mine do, add a pair of sweater tights. For extra interest, wear tights in a fun, coordinated colour.

You’ll be able to create custom looks with all the eye shadow colour choices in the Pixi by Petra Ultimate Beauty Kit 2nd Edition set. The highlighters and cheek powders add what you’ll need to create a Holiday party style that will turn heads. Prep your skin with Physician’s Formula Mineral Correcting Powder for a flawless look. Keep your lips neutral so that all eyes are on your outfit. One of my favourites is Nude Lip Balm from e.l.f. I like to have show-stopping nails, so I really like No Place Like Chrome from Essie, which is a solidly shiny silver nail polish.

You can find everything to put together your Holiday party must-haves all in one place. I was able to find so many different pieces that would work well for a Holiday party look that I had a hard time choosing which ones to ultimately purchase from Target. It’s the place to find things from head to toe to easily be able to create a Holiday look that makes a major statement!

At Target, it’s our belief that great design is fun, energetic, surprising and smart—and it should be accessible and affordable for everyone. When we talk about our dedication to design, we don’t just mean how something looks, but also how it satisfies a need, simplifies your life, and makes you feel. Target. Expect More. Pay Less.
