How To Streamline Your Social Media Experience

To help cut out the noise of unhelpful content that does little to motivate and inspire you, streamline your social media experience. While there are many different ways that you can optimize your experience on different platforms, it’s a good idea to think about the ways in which you’d like to be influenced.

Productivity is never an accident. It’s the result of a commitment to excellence, intelligent planning, and focused effort.

Paul Meyer

Many people spend a large portion of their time mindlessly scrolling their social media feeds. I’m not saying that you shouldn’t use social media, only suggesting that you do so more deliberately. To make better use of your time, you should concentrate on optimizing your feed by using these five strategies.

Think About The Social Media Platform You’re Using

When you’re engaging with different forms of content, it’s important to acknowledge how you’re engaging with that content. For example, if you’re on a social media site that is centered on pictures, you may not want to be concentrating on making the majority of your feed a text based experience. Optimizing your social media feed is all about understanding the platform that you’re operating on, the kind of information that is most helpful or interesting to you, and curating your experience between those two things.

If you work within a specific corporation or industry, following lawyers and experts in that field, like Douglas Healy can give you access to articles and information that are important to you. This is a great way to streamline the experience and make the most out of time spent on social media.

How To Streamline Your Social Media Experience

Follow Top Creators In Your Industry

By following top creators on your social media, you’ll have more access to information that pertains specifically to you. This is especially pertinent if you have an interest in making your experience on social media more productive.

If you’ve ever been scrolling on your feed for five hours only to find out that you don’t remember a single thing that you read, it may be time to cut out the useless memes and replace them with something that is more useful. There are many different options to choose from, and some may be more helpful to your individual needs than others. Think critically about who you follow, and choose wisely.

Choose Wisely

Enhancing your experience on social media for productivity and a more holistic experience means following people thoughtfully. If you can’t log into a social media site without getting in a fight with your wife’s aunt, it may be time to unfollow them. Think about how you actually feel when you’re on your social media feed.

If something is making you feel bad, it may be time to cut it out. This isn’t to say that everything on your feed should make you happy, but you should be conscious of the effect that your social media has on your mood. There are recent updates on many different social media sites that allow you to unfollow someone rather than unfriending them. By unfollowing them over unfriending, you’ll not see any of their posts but will also avoid a possibly uncomfortable confrontation about why you removed them from your friends list.

Don’t Avoid Things You Enjoy

If you’re like many people on the productivity side of the internet, it may seem like a good idea to only concentrate on following one type of creator on your social media page. While this can certainly give you a very in-depth knowledge of a specific industry or idea, it may not be what you need to actively enjoy your time and space on social media.

Instead, focus on breaking up your feed with some fun things and some things that are engaging your mind intellectually. This will ensure that you have the capacity to enjoy your experience without putting undue pressure on yourself.

Choose Quality Over Quantity when you streamline your social media experience

I would suggest that you stick to creators with higher-quality content that you can relate to. Oversaturating your social media page will only lead to frustration with your social media presence and those that you follow in the future. Concentrate instead on following top-quality content creators, regardless of their level of fame or acknowledgment.

It can be easy to go through social media just by clicking the like button. However, actively engaging with the communities that you’re in is a great way to establish quality relationships with like-minded individuals and will ultimately lead to a more genuine and holistic experience online.
