September and October are prime months for nesting—fixing up that one little corner of your home or doing a complete re-decoration in order to cozy-up the place for the cooler months, guests and entertaining. Luckily, I’ll be getting lots of new ideas to share with you when I attend the Interior Design Show West (IDS West) in Vancouver in a few weeks.

Features for IDS West 2012 include:

One of a Kind District—this is where you get to check out local art and products from Vancouver and B.C. designers. I shared a few of my favourites with you from the upcoming One of a Kind District, but now there is an even bigger list available of people who are coming.

I am especially looking forward to seeing work from kilnhouse studio—Shannon Butler’s handmade ceramic art is gorgeous, and totally one of a kind.

Future Masters Vol. 3—I’m excited to see what the young designers will come up with this year. Design students from a variety of disciplines were encouraged to submit their past and current projects for consideration. Check out all the details here: http://futrmstr.co/.

You can see the participants and the variety of designs below:

Ryan Boechler & Christine Huynh – Bao Toaster
Conrad Brown & Calen Knauf – Profile Chair
Krystin Clarke & Solveig Johanssen – Ossa
Jesse Cullen, Katie Mah, & Maia Rowen
Andreas Eiken – Rain Chaps
Ashley Eusebio – High Density Housing Vancouver
Venus Fung & Joy Tai – Evelia
Darcy Greindar – Basalt Alt Tableware
Bianca Guthrie – Memento
Calen Knauf – Flight Lamp
Amirhesam Mohtasebi – The House of Sand and Fog
Greg Papove – Socks + Furniture: An Exploration into the Banal
Sarah Peloquin – 2 1/2 D: Orange & Extractions
Scott Wilson – Contained: Infill Living

Lots of Booths—I always enjoy checking out the new products and getting décor ideas at the exhibition booths. The ones at IDS West are definitely of the highest quality. . .no shammies or as-seen-on-tv style mops.

Speaker Series–Always a big draw, the designers who speak at IDS West bring lots of ideas and inspiration-and answer questions about specific rooms and decor choices.
