If I Had $50,000 #GoldenKitten

I’m a practical dreamer. Whereas many people would probably blow much of the $50,000 on luxury trips, fancy cars and pretty new shoes, I would feel want to make sure I was set-up and settled a bit. There are a few ways that I could possibly spend the $50,000:

Possible dream scenario: Put down a good down-payment on a house, somewhere in Canada. There aren’t very many places where I’d want to live in Canada, so I’d have to really check out the country, first. . .by going on a cross-Canada road trip, of course! Nothing too expensive or fancy, but it would probably cost between $3,000 and $6,000 to do the once-in-a-lifetime trip, spending 1 or 2 months driving there and back. It’s always been something that I’ve wanted to do. I’d camp as much as I could or wanted to, check out the National Parks, cities and ‘world’s largest’ things around the country, then decide on a place to have my home. I really like the West Coast, so may just end up back here, though the housing prices are kind of insanely expensive!

I love stone and brick, so I’d be tempted to have a home that looks like either of the two above. I know that $50,000 wouldn’t go very far with owning a home, but maybe the money will help me a little in the way of my dreams. I would also set aside at least $10,000 of the money for savings/emergencies.

I’d love to hear your thoughts—how would you spend $50,000 if you won it tomorrow?

It may just happen—one lucky Canadian will win $50,000! 500 instant-win prizes and four runner-up prizes are also up for grabs, thanks to Royale. There are a few different ways that you could try your hand at winning one of the many prizes mentioned. Those are beautiful houses, I would love something similar as well….although $50,000 wouldn't even be enough for me to look at a house like that! If I had $50,000 right now I would get our debt paid off and start a savings so that we're no longer living paycheck to paycheck. I would also rent a larger home so that i could have another baby!

What would I do with $50,000? I'd pay off some bills, save some, and probably put a down payment on a house. Where I live, $20k down gets you a pretty decent newer house.

I would save most of it for both retirement and my son's college. Then put some towards a new house.

I would use some to pay off our debts. The rest would go into savings to hopefully put down on a new home once we move closer to our dream area!

50K — hmm. I think I would also use it buy a house. After being homeowners for years we're renting and I miss being a homeowner. It's an unsettling feeling for me not to have my own home.
