How the IoT Helps Homeowners Know how Quickly They run out of Groceries

This is a sponsored post but all opinions are 100% my own.

When I first heard about smart refrigerators, I didn’t know what to make of them. My fridge at home is a disorganized mess and I never seem to know what I am out of when I’m at a grocery store. Smart refrigerators can help homeowners with some of their kitchen problems.

Several features of smart refrigerators will help homeowners organize the contents of their fridge. Homeowners will also know when they run out groceries. The organization of a fridge is necessary, as most smart refrigerators use cameras to see the food inside. Food items will need to be in clear containers so that the cameras can show you how much food remains.

The Samsung Smart Fridge has a touchscreen which allows homeowners to organize their food. From the touchscreen, you can drag and drop grocery items, add eat-by dates, and see what is in the fridge from the door outside.

The Smart Fridge and others like it use a touchscreen to make the fridge a hub of the kitchen. The touchscreens allow users to post messages and reminders for themselves and family members. Additionally, they can use the touchscreens for calendars, streaming music, and looking up new recipes. Some smart refrigerators also allow you to watch TV right on your fridge! I like that I would be able to check the weather forecast from my fridge.

These days, we want to know more than the basics when it comes to our lifestyle habits, like how much food we’re eating. Smart refrigerators often come with applications so that homeowners can track what’s in their fridge from anywhere.

Having analytics show up on smartphones for applications helps business owners and developers know what’s working and what isn’t. Ad-hoc reporting allows an increased value for users of applications.

I would like for smart refrigerators to tell us when food is expiring or offers meal suggestions based on what I have on hand. I don’t know about you, but I’d love to know what food I have in my fridge when I’m at a grocery store, but also know when my most purchased food items are on sale.

For now, I hope developers and business owners are making good use of self-service reporting so that they can make data reporting more visual and engaging.
