Fight the Winter Blues with Verilux Light Products

Verilux

Verilux makes a variety of lighting products for the home – light therapy, sanitizing lights . . . and a variety of desk and floor lamps with Natural SpectrumR light that simulates natural daylight.

Living in a city that gets very little sunlight in a year  – most of the time it is grey and rainy  – it is easy to fall prey to the winter blues. I find I have far less energy during the winter, in this city, due to the lack of sunlight.

I’ve been using the HappyLight 6000, which I received from Verilux to review, for a few weeks now. I have found that the bright white light has really helped me feel more awake and alert. I placed it on my desktop so that I could turn it on first thing in the morning when I check my email, and throughout the early part of the day, if I am home. It is recommended that you use the light for 2 hours a day – though you don’t have to use it all in one go.

Some benefits of this light, from Verilux’s website:

Improve Mood and Energy

Natural Spectrum Daylight cues the body’s natural energy enhancers, improving mood, energy levels and creating an overall sense of well-being.

Regain Focus, Concentration & Productivity

Balanced Natural Spectrum Daylight gently helps the body recalibrate and stabilize, reducing fatigue and lethargy, improving focus and concentration.

VeriluxYou can clearly see the 2 different light settings in this picture – full brightness and half brightness. This light is simply designed so it doesn’t look ‘off’ sitting on my desk top. The first photo shows how much light is added to this dark corner of my living room/office.

I would recommend this product for anyone who lives in a place where there is a lot less light in the winter and those who would like to improve their energy and alertness. This product is quite inexpensive compared to other light therapy lamps I’ve seen on the market.

The HappyLight® 6000 features:

  • Up to 6,000 LUX of Natural Spectrum® daylight lifts spirits, sharpens concentration and improves energy levels
  • Helps recalibrate and normalize Circadian Rhythms for a healthy night’s sleep
  • Emulates natural sunshine to improve mood and well-being
  • Sleek, space-saving design is ideal for home, office or dorm room
  • Energy efficient bulb uses only 36 Watts to produce 300 Watts of Natural spectrum light
  • One year limited warranty
  • 30 day money back guarantee
  • Dimensions: 12” H x 3.9” W x 5.6” D
  • Weight: 2 lbs
  • UL listed in United States and Canada
  • Price $89.95

Having had the opportunity to try out the HappyLight6000, I now know that Verilux products are high-quality and well-designed. I have been browsing their website and have a list of products that I would love to try from them – like the alarm clock Rise and Shine Natural Sleep System. Wouldn’t it be amazing to wake up naturally, rather than by some annoying beeping from a traditional alarm clock?

Rise and shine
