ipad2 reviews

Whether on a road-trip, travelling to a new city or finding your way around your hometown, the NAVV Traveller makes for a fantastic companion.

On our recent month-long trip to the USA, Greg and I visited many cities where we walked and used local transportation—but we also did a lot of driving. For a few days in Seattle and a few more in Orlando, plus 2 weeks throughout Texas, we drove—and NAVV Traveller showed us the way.

There are 32 different NAVV apps for the iPhone/iPod, available for different countries throughout the world. The NAVV Traveller, which I reviewed, is available for the iPad for Western Europe and North America.

The downloadable map packs are great for off-line mapping, but I think that this app would work especially well if one had a GPS iPad2. I found free Wi-Fi readily available in Seattle and Texas (even in the smallest towns), but it was difficult to come by in the North Eastern USA.

We ended up avoiding paying tolls in Dallas and Orlando because of this app, which gives clear instructions on how to navigate city streets. This app works well for travelling apart from driving to destinations, too—throughout the North Eastern USA we took public transportation and walked. Not only did the NAVV Traveller tell us how to get to destinations throughout the city, it also helped us find nearby attractions and more. I especially love how it told us where the vegetarian restaurants were! As vegans, this was especially useful for us—no more guessing or making special requests at restaurants. We decided to stop in Philadelphia for 1 day but didn’t know what to see and do (or where to eat), and we relied on the NAVV Traveller for everything that day.

Though it has a steep learning curve, the NAVV Traveller iPad app provides accurate on the ground navigation. It takes some getting used to to figure out how to plan your route for directions and locations of things, but once you do, you’ll quickly and easily be navigating your way through cities and on roads.

I received a copy of NAVV Traveller in order to conduct this review. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated in any other way.
