Pampering yourself doesn’t have to be an all-day or weekend-getaway type of affair.
I know how difficult it can be to take time out of your busy day to focus on YOU sometimes. It seems like there are always people and obligations that pull us in many different directions at the same time. You’ve likely heard how important it is to have “me-time” in order to be at your best for everything you do in your life and those that you spend your time around. How do you fit it in and exactly what should you focus on? I have put together some skin care tips to help you! You can take care of your skin and get a little pampering treatment at the same time, no matter how much time you can spare.
I wanted to show you how to focus your self-care time on an area that is so important—your skin, the largest organ in your body. Changes in temperature as we move through different seasons, and rush around trying to get everything on our to-do list done can really take a toll on your skin. I know that I often only have a few minutes to get ready before heading out to a client meeting or to work. When I get home, I usually “wash the day” off my face and take a few extra minutes to relax while I shift my priorities from worrying about everyone and everything else to me, myself and I!
While I think you should ideally use all three of the steps I’m going to share with you, your skincare routine can be as simple as one quick step.
I recently dropped by my local Wal-Mart Supercentre to check out their range of Nivea products. I’ve heard about Nivea’s Pure & Natural range of beauty products, but hadn’t tried them out yet. I picked the Pure & Natural Purifying Toner and the Cleansing Lotion from the line. I chose them to try out because they contain organic argan oil and aloe vera. Having sensitive skin, I knew these ingredients would be gentle enough not to leave my face red and irritated. To compliment these two products, I also picked out the Mattifying Day Cream in the Aqua Effect range.
Step 1: Cleansing Lotion
Having clean skin is the first, most crucial step. The Nivea Pure & Natural Cleansing Lotion is moisturizing at the same time as having excellent cleansing properties.
Have 5 minutes or less? Pamper your skin with this product by using the amount I’ve shown below to massage your face in a circular motion. Wipe off the excess product with a cotton pad and you’re good to go!
If you have more time, rinse your face with warm water and pat dry before moving on to step 2.
Step 2: Purifying Toner
If you have an extra minute after using the Cleansing Lotion, use the Purifying Toner next. The refreshing liquid on my face made me feel more awake and ready to take on the day. I can only imagine how nice this would feel on my face during the warmer months of the year after being outside in the hot sun all day. The aloe vera would feel so cool on my face. The reason why I like to use toner after cleaning my face is that toner will help to remove makeup residue. Not only that, it refreshes the skin in a way that helps moisturizer absorb well in to the skin—if you have time for that final step!
Use a cotton pad to add Purifying Toner to your face, throat and décolleté.
Step 3: Mattifying Day Cream
If you have a few extra minutes, it’s a good idea to put on a healthy amount of Mattifying Day Cream. This rich cream comes in a little pot or pump bottle. I love how thick it is—yet it was easily absorbed in to my skin. This cream contains SPF 15, so I know my skin is protected when I head out for the day.
And this is me after this lovely “me time” skin care treatment. Notice how glowing my skin looks?
Because Nivea products are so inexpensively priced, I will be trying them out on my hands as well as my face. Using the Mattifying Day Cream as a mask for my hands and feet would be the ultimate “me time” treat! There was a wide range of Nivea products available at Wal-Mart for all skin types. I chose the products I did because of my sensitive skin, but Nivea also makes products good for oily and other skin types. You can still use my 3-step process, outlined above, and just switch out the products with ones that will work for your skin type.
I enjoyed my skin care pampering for some “me time” with the above-mentioned products from Nivea and am sharing my experience here thanks to #CollectiveBias .
