The Aviva Community Fund Contest is in its 3rd year of empowering individuals to come up with ideas on how they can create positive change in their communities. The competition is funded by Aviva Canada Inc., who is one of the top insurance providers in Canada for home, auto and life insurance.
What kinds of ideas have won in the past?
Winning ideas in the past have provided funding to schools in British Columbia, Ontario and New Brunswick, as well as an animal shelter in Yellowknife.
Winning ideas will have a chance to share the money from the Aviva Community Fund, who will be donating 1 million dollars ($1,000,000).
Do you have an idea for creating positive change in your community? Here are some ways that you can spread the word about your idea to really get it noticed:
- Share your ideas with members of the media and press—maybe a blogger you know will help you spread the word!
- Promote your ideas on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook
- Make your presentation fun and interesting—use video or photos
You’ll have until November 30th to get your ideas in. Winners will be chosen based on number of votes, so spread the word about your idea! If you know an insurance broker, ask them to support your idea, because this will increase the chances of winning. The winners will be announced January 25th, 2012. Follow @avivacf Aviva Community Funds’ twitter page to keep up to date on the ideas coming in and the competition generally.
The Aviva Community Fund competition has a greater presence on Facebook this year: ideas will be visible on Facebook and votes can be submitted there as well. On top of the $1,000,000 of funding for winning ideas, Aviva will be offering $1 for each Facebook like. So like Aviva Community Fund on Facebook. Tell your friends and family to also like them on Facebook for an easy way to give to Free the Children, which supports at-risk youth programs in Canada.
