How are your Health & Fitness Goals Coming Along?

by Tazim Damji

think happy thoughts

I've been eating a lot better since moving here from Vancouver—mostly because there is a full-sized kitchen to use. I have also been using my Ozeri 4x3motion Digital Pocket Pedometer to track the number of steps I take daily. My goal is to take 10,000 steps per day, which I am generally successful with—mostly, I take many more steps than that! WellnessMats Anti-Fatigue Floor Mats Review

by Greg

An Anti-Fatigue Mat for the Most Used Space in Your Home In my early twenties I did a stint in an upscale restaurant, first as a prep chef, and then with my own section. In just a few short weeks, I learned a phenomenal amount about food, and I've always been gratteful for that time in my life. My mom was a professional baker, and had taught me a lot at home—but the professional kitchen environment is full of so many smart economies and tricks that make cooking better. What did I learn? ...

Complete Home Medical Guide—DK Canada Book Review

by Tazim Damji

We had an older version of this book in our home when I was growing up, and I remember my mom referencing it often. This new version of the Canadian Medical Association Complete Home Medical Guide includes several charts and instructional material that, I feel, greatly improve the book. Not only is this a great book to have around when you're not sure what to do in certain situations, but this is also a great educational book for children (and adults). If your child needs to write a report or ...

Goals

by Tazim Damji

There will be no minor goals for me this year—in 2012, I'll be going all-in! I've had so many major life changes last year that I've been forced to think about where I want my life to go, what I like and don't like and everything in between. I'm physically in a place I never imagined myself being again—in my old hometown, and Greg's birthplace of Calgary, Alberta. There isn't any point regretting the decision to move here; I want to just make the best of it . I am going to be focusing a lot ...

Ozeri 4x3motion Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer Review

by Tazim Damji

I've mentioned before that since moving somewhere that actually has a winter, I've been having a hard time getting myself to get up and go out there for a run—but recently, Tazim picked up an Ozeri 4x3motion Digital Pocket 3D Pedometer. It was supposed to go in my stocking, but like the bad boy that I am, I wheedled my way into early access—and I'm glad I did. I've used a simple keychain-fob style pedometer from in the past—we liked it well enough but wondered what we'd get if we spent $5 ...

Multi-Function Pocket Pedometer From Heart Rate Monitors USA Review

by Tazim Damji

A great idea for a stocking stuffer, this pocket pedometer works well to keep track of the number of steps you've taken. I was able to program in my step length so that this device would know how many steps I was taking. You can set a goal for the number of steps to take in a day. I read that you should aim to take between 10,000 steps per day. This factors in the 30 to 60 minutes of physical activity  recommended every day. When I am going to work (which is full-time now), I can easily reach ...
