Self-care; 4 Tips to Keep Your Spirits High During the Winters

by Tazim Damji Leave a Comment

Winter can be a difficult time for many people, especially in harsher Canadian climates. During this season, it's important to take time for self-care in order to ensure mental and emotional wellness. Self-care can help us get through the low moods and stress that come with the winter season. It can also help us build resilience and make sure our physical health is taken care of during these cold months. In this article, we'll discuss why self-care is important during the winter months and how we can use it to keep ourselves healthy and happy. Tip 1: Get Plenty of Sleep and Rest Sleep is essential for our physical and mental health. Without enough sleep, we can become irritable, unfocused, and unable to function at our best. Unfortunately, many of us struggle to get the restorative sleep needed. To ensure that you are getting enough sleep, it is essential to understand the importance of a good night’s sleep and how to make sure you are getting it every night. Ensure that you have good sleep hygiene habits in order to help you get some rest. Do not use electronics at least an hour before bed so that the blue light does not interfere with your circadian rhythm system. Try to use your room only for sleep and not to eat food or watch TV. Tip 2: Exercise Regularly & Eat Healthy Foods Regular physical activity and a healthy diet are essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Exercise can help to reduce stress, improve your mood, and increase energy levels. It can also help you to stay motivated during the winter months when it’s harder to get outside and exercise. It helps in releasing dopamine in the body and reducing stress levels. You can quite easily deal with the winter blues if you exercise regularly. This does not mean that you should go to a gym and follow a boring routine, you can also try to go for a walk, do some yoga, try dancing, or whatever helps you move your body out of that funk. Tip 3: Try Cannabis Winter can be a difficult time of the year for many people. Low mood and lack of energy are common symptoms that can affect anyone during this season. Fortunately, cannabis could help to elevate your mood and give you the energy you need to get through these cold Canadian winters. According to the experts at ONLYGAS, many Sativa strains can help energize your creative flow and help you get out of that funk. Cannabis has long been used as a natural remedy for stress, anxiety, and depression. It has also been known to increase creativity and focus, making it an ideal choice for those looking for a way to cope with the harsh Canadian winters. Cannabis is safe and legal in Canada, so why not give it a try? With proper dosage and careful selection of strains, cannabis could be just what you need to help you get through these tough times. Tip 4: Spend Time in Nature & Connect with Others In an increasingly digital world, it can be difficult to find time to spend in nature and connect with others. But these activities are essential for our mental health and well-being. Taking regular nature walks can help us to relax, reduce stress, and boost our mood. Connecting with friends and family members can also provide us with a sense of belonging and support. This is especially true during the winters since we barely get any time to soak in some sun. It is important to make sure that you keep your spirits high when you are in a colder climate. Use this list to help you improve your quality of life during the harsh winters.

Invest in Yourself – How to Become the Best Version of You

Investing does not only need to apply to money or business. We invest in many areas of our lives, including time and energy in our work, families and friends. Often times, we do this to such an extent that we forget to fuel the one thing that drives these investments, ourselves. Imagine the benefits if you invested as much time, effort and energy into yourself, as you do into others. The rewards can be life-changing. Caregiving Services – Support for you, care for those who depend on you

by Tazim Damji

This post brought to you by Elizz. The content and opinions expressed below are that of Being Tazim. She may not have known she'd end up a caregiver, but my mom always knew she wanted to be in the service of people who she cared about. When we lived in Texas, my mom owned and taught in a montessori school. She really cared about the children whom she was helping, really wanting to make sure they got a good education. Although she loved working with children, she had always dreamt of being a ...

Customize your Self-Care with a Custom Blending Kit (With Giveaway)

by Tazim Damji

Custom blending kit

Self-care is something I've talked about a few times on this blog. It's something I practice everyday, no matter how busy I am. I use diffusers to scent the air with my favourite essential oils or blends, I have baths at least twice a week (except during the summer months), and I give myself hand and foot massages whenever I remember to. Instead of using someone else's idea of what I should have in my bath water or use for massages, I prefer to DIY my blend using Escents' Custom Blending Kit. ...

5 Reasons to Add Colouring Books to your Self-Care Toolkit

by Tazim Damji

As a child, I used to sit on the floor and colour in my colouring books on the coffee table most weekend mornings, if not throughout the day. I loved being able to make things whatever colours I wanted to, and the way I could so easily take something as boring as a blank page with a few outlines on it to a colourful one. Now, I still love colouring, but I use the practice in a slightly different way. Check out the list of 5 Reasons to Add Colouring Books to your Self-Care Toolkit, below: ...

3 Things I’m Doing to Plan for a Successful 2015

by Tazim Damji

3 things successful 2015

Most people start making their resolutions in January, but there's still most of December left—so getting started now on thinking about how I want the next year to go and what changes I want to make in my life in general, can be started right now. I've been working towards daily habits of these 3 things: a before-bed gratitude list, a quick check-in list I like to call "I did good today" with all the things I accomplished (big or small), and a be/do/have list. Okay, I guess it's obvious that I'm ...

Nivea Skin Care Tips

I am a member of the Collective Bias®  Social Fabric® Community.  This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser. Pampering yourself doesn't have to be an all-day or weekend-getaway type of affair. I know how difficult it can be to take time out of your busy day to focus on YOU sometimes. It seems like there are always people and obligations that pull us in many different directions at the same time. You've likely heard how ...
