Top 5 Inspiring Sites for Blogging Ideas

I have my little calendar of what I plan on blogging about—I add in dates for giveaway hops, and reviews to post, plus holiday posts. I have another notebook for blogging ideas related to different categories. I like to flip through a lot of different e-magazines related to interior design for things to blog about. When I’m looking for other ideas, I look at these sites for some inspiration:

letters

  1. Houzz – an amazing site where interior designers and architects post pictures of their designs/client’s homes.
  2. Gawker – especially DwellingGawker is a great source for inspiration. There are pictures from blog posts in different categories. There’s also FoodGawker, WeddingGawker, and CraftGawker for other ideas.
  3. Etsy – this continues to be a site of great inspiration. Whatever is trending right now seasonally, shows up on Etsy. The treasury pages — where members put together product pictures on an inspiration board of sorts—is especially great for blogging ideas.
  4. Pinterest – I’ve been using it for a long time now to find gorgeous photos and inspiration. What I like best is finding new blogs and sites to check out.
  5. HGTV – watching the videos and looking at the blog posts there, I get so many ideas on what to blog about (but so little time).
I also love checking out blogs like Poppytalk and SFGirlbyBay for lots of ideas and inspiration.

I would love to know—what sites inspire you to get blogging? If you write a blog, please leave me a comment. I’d love to visit it and get to know you better!

Great post Tazim. It was refreshing to learn something new about what others are doing. I get blog ideas and inspiration from life events and lessons, quotes, magazines like Success, books, and movies.

Thank you Debra! I haven't heard of Success magazine. If it is inspirational, it might be worth a read!

    Hi Tazim,
What a fun post. If it's OK, I'd like to borrow your idea of listing inspirational sites for my audience. And, I really should keep a calendar of what I want to post about, it sure would make it easier than trying to think of something when I sit down to write.

    YOU are an inspiration!

    Thanks!!

Aside from the reviews on products I post, my content comes from every day life. My kids inspire more blog posts than I could ever think of on my own and I love them for that! My husband also creates a lot of content for me to brew on as well.

That is so great that your husband and kids are a source of inspiration for you! I'm sure they'll continue to give you original content for years to come as they keep experiencing new things in their lives.

These are really good ideas! I'd like to expand what I blog about and not be so random, but it's hard sometimes!

I know what you mean – I started out blogging about everything I loved—which is apparently a lot of different things—before I started to focus more on just a few categories. I still worry that things are too scattered, though.

    Hi Tazim,
Thanks for these wonderful suggestions. I'm especially interested to visit WeddingGawker, and I'll get to all the others when I have a few idle moments. Ha ha. Really, I will. I love accidentally stumbling on an unexpected inspiration to connect a few dots I'm working on. BTW, I'm starting to get active on Pinterest, too, and I'll visit you there right now.

I also enjoy Pinterest, Etsy, Gawker, and HGTV for inspiration. I will have to check out Houzz. Often my daily inspiration comes from my family, nature, quotes, books, other bloggers, and anything that strikes my fancy. I've never thought about a calendar, probably because I'm so new to this. Thanks for your article.
