Turning Possibilities in to Realities—Inspired by an Inspiration Post

The post “What Inspires You?”  by Dawn, from Cheap is the New Classy got me thinking—not only about what inspires me, but about the future.

One of my favourite actresses is Queen Latifah—I love repeatedly watching her movies, especially Last Holiday, where her character finds out that she’s dying. The book of possibilities the character has been adding to for years has pictures of all the things she dreams of one day doing/buying/achieving. Instead of working toward those goals, Queen Latifah’s character saves money, doesn’t talk to the guy she likes at work and basically, keeps her dreams locked up in a book.

As you may know, I’ve gone through a lot of changes in my life since last May, when I graduated from the University of British Columbia . . . including moving back to Calgary on a cross-Canada trip, struggling financially, and family stress. I’m happy that Greg has had some great news of late with his writing career, and I’m ready to make my own dreams come true, too.

Truly, I’m inspired by the possibilities in life—the numerous options ahead for Greg and I. Knowing we aren’t stuck, as we once were a few months ago, and that we can achieve our dreams, picking and choosing where life will take us next.

Dawn talks about how her family (pets included) inspire her. I can’t say that about my own family (unless it is inspiration to move away and be my better self), but I am inspired by Greg, his family, and the places yet to be explored. We just got a new (to us) car, the first one we’ve bought (apart from the one we owned in New Zealand for a year), and I know it’ll mean that a lot of great adventures are ahead of us. How am I feeling about my future these days? Hopeful.

What inspires you to make your dreams come true?

My husband and son are my inspirations! The goals I still want to achieve mostly center around family, or will at least make an impact on them as well as myself.

Your "new to you" car looks nice. 🙂 Oh, and I should amend my post to say that *some* of my family inspires me, lol….and some inspired me to move to a new state and invest in caller ID. 🙂

I need to see that Queen Latifah movie! I love her. The last one I saw her in was the one with Common. I can't remember the name of it but it was REALLY good. 🙂

    Thanks for the great post!

Thanks Dawn. Yes, you should see that movie—great for winter, especially. Love the French scenery! Taxi is another good one with her in it. 🙂
