This past weekend, I attended the Wellness Show at the Convention Centre in Vancouver. The show ran from February 13, 14 and 15th.
With the amount of workshops going on throughout the day, it was hard for me to decide where to spend my time!
Should I learn about overcoming allergies or watch a cooking demo?! #wellness15 @TheWellnessShow pic.twitter.com/zqSY9pe7hq

Obviously, I chose to attend the “Got Allergies” talk given by Lisa Kilgour at the Living Well stage. Lisa talked about gut health, the importance of a healthy immune system and the benefits of fermented foods.

I got some ideas of fermented foods I can have more of in my diet: sourdough bread, miso and apple cider vinegar. Lisa suggested a few things to add to a diet to “heal your gut”: aloe vera juice, cooked veggies and soaked grains. Apart from all the informative talks and cooking demonstrations at The Wellness Show, there were tons of booths with samples of food and drink to taste. My favourite was the Nesters Market booth. There were enough things to try (and take home) that one needn’t have eaten beforehand. For a vegan like myself, there was plenty to enjoy throughout the booth and the rest of the show.
Free apples amongst other delicious (mostly organic and local) food was available at the Nesters Market booth.
One of my favourite brands: Earth Balance (a staple brand in my fridge!) was there handing out and providing samples to try.
I so love when companies label products clearly!

I was able to attend the Wellness Show because I was provided with a complimentary ticket. I thoroughly enjoyed checking out all the booths (especially the food ones!) and learning at the workshops at the different stages. Adult tickets were $14.95 and well-worth it in my opinion.
