Winter Self-Care

When I think about it, what I really want to do in late fall/winter is relax in a bath tub with a good book and my journal. But, what do I end up doing? I fill my schedule with outside obligations with friends and family, holiday-related activities, and may too much time spent at my computer trying to keep up with the extra blog posts that always land on my plate around this time of year (which I am really grateful for).

Whatever ends up on your plate takes up a lot of time and energy, even if it’s fun and full of memory-making activities. Having time for yourself doesn’t just happen, especially with all this “busyness,” so make a conscious choice to include self-care in your schedule.

Not all self-care needs to be time away from your other activities, though. What about treating yourself to your favourite skincare products, since you’ll be using them each morning when you get ready for the day ahead? Use some really nice shaving cream, like LUSH’s Five O’ Clock Whistle, and some nice-smelling soap in the shower.

Winter Self Care

When I find myself on the verge of overwhelm (or deep in it already), pushing through it doesn’t always work. A quick “chill break” does wonders for my well-being. I bet you could use a bit of chill-out time this winter, am I right? I present you with this little list of 5 Things to do when you Just Need to Chill Out:

5 things to do when you need to chill out-3

For me, self-care is most easily had by getting myself in or near water. Being a Cancer, I naturally love being in water—baths and showers especially. I like to make baths and showers extra special by using my favourite products from LUSH. And it seems like each season I have a new favourite! I had the chance to check out three new products from LUSH, recently:

Yog Nog Soap, Five O’Clock Whistle Shaving Smoothie, and Icing On The Cake Roulade.

Winter Self care

Yog Nog soap is hands-down my favourite soap. And I’ve tried a lot over the years! My bathroom smells heavenly thanks to this soap! It’s really creamy, makes my skin soft and moisturized, smells amazing, and has a lovely star on the top of it.

“Yog Nog is inspired by the famous Christmas drink—a vegan version of egg nog! We’ve added soy yogurt which softens skin and provides a creamy texture. The scent of clove bud and ylang oils are topped off with a generous dusting of nutmeg and cocoa powder.”

“Naked and self-preserving, The Icing On The Cake is an innovative take on the shower smoothie! This soft soap is made with a decoction of stimulating lemon, lime, and orange peels and blended with soothing almond milk and softening soya cream, cocoa butter, and almond oil.”

Five O’Clock Whistle is gentle on your skin and smells amazingly. Before subjecting your skin to the edge of a razorblades, slide on this soothing shaving smoothie. This can be used on your face or legs.

What’s your favourite way to bring self-care in to your day?
