caramel-apple topping:
-cut small pieces of 1 apple into thin slices.
-add apples to small saucepan on low-medium heat
-add 3 Tbsp of brown sugar to sauce pan and stir until the apples are softened
-add 1 Tbsp of maple syrup and keep staring
-when mixture is slightly crispy, remove from heat and serve warm on top of waffles
