Rubbermaid Glass Containers Review

Tazim and I made the switch to glass containers in the late nineties, and haven’t looked back, even aside from health concerns. we’ll accept the occasional broken container in exchange for the impermeability of glass—glass containers don’t tend to discolour or absorb odours, which make them winners in our book!

But, many of them leak. Or, have lids that are prone to breakage—which is why we were excited to see this new line of containers from Rubbermaid, Rubbermaid Glass. They nest inside one another so that they’re easy to stack, have glass bottoms and BPA free lids—but most impressively, have a neat, dishwasher safe gasket system that really works.

We’ve been testing a set for a little over a month—first tentatively, with water and things that don’t stain. Then we went out on a limb, and tossed runny curries and rich Indian pickles in our lunch bags. Things that are delicious, but mucho high risk—one little leak, and your purse or backpack smells like curry for eternity.

These containers passed our most rigorous testing easily. Made in the USA, minimally packaged and not too dearly priced, they now have pride of place in our container cupboard. The only negative we’ve found is that the gasket absolutely has to be in place in order to prevent the contents from leaking out, and it takes a time or two to get used to installing it. Rubbermaid Glass products can be purchased on Amazon.com.

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children.

I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the

shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside

and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but I

    had to tell someone!
