Vegan Tomato Basil Pasta Sauce Recipe
When I think of warmth, comfort and freshness, I think of Italian food.
Other than my one true love — Italian pizza— my favourite Italian food is pasta. Pre-made pasta sauce can be really expensive, especially when you want to buy organic, that’s why I’m happy to have this vegan tomato basil pasta sauce recipe.
With a few ingredients, it’s easy to make your own pasta sauce for a lot less than pre-made sauce would cost. Besides cost, the other factor to consider for making my own pasta sauce is having something quick and delicious for dinner.
From start to finish, this pasta sauce takes about 25 minutes to prepare and cook. What I love about this recipe is that I can enjoy it for several days. This works well for weeks when I’m trying to get a lot of writing done. I know that a lot of people automatically think of making pasta when they have vegetarian or vegan friends over for dinner.
If you’re going to serve pasta, at least add some fun ingredients that give it some flavour. Think fresh basil, roasted bell peppers and olive oil.
A friend of mine gave me some tips on how to make my own pasta sauce, which inspired this recipe.

This vegan tomato basil pasta sauce tastes great on top of a variety of different pasta. My favourites are penne and capellini. What are your favourites?
With this basic pasta sauce, you can add other vegetables or whatever you’d like. It will last about 3 days in the fridge.
