10 Vegan Cookie Recipes

A lot of people wonder how to make cookies vegan. Well, it’s really pretty easy to do. I’ve put together just 10 (of the many) recipes for simple vegan cookies that I’ve come across. These 10 vegan cookie recipes range from healthy vegan cookies to traditional vegan sugar cookies.

For gift-giving/hang out more often with friends and family season, cookies are the best! You can make them in advance, free them (or the dough), mail them, wrap them up and give them as hostess treats, and so much more.

If you sang the song “who stole the cookie from the cookie jar” when I was a kid – the answer would always be “I did!” I couldn’t help it—my dad has a sweet tooth, so we always had cookies around. To this day, it’s hard for my brother and I to make a batch of cookies last longer than a few days.

I remember visiting my family in Calgary one winter when there were Oreo cookies that were gingerbread flavour. We finished one box in 2 days, then my brother went to the store to buy 5 more boxes! They were limited edition, so this was a requirement, don’t you think?

And yes, Oreo cookies (most flavours) are “accidentally vegan” but those aren’t the kind of cookies I’m talking about in this post. Like many of you, I have fond memories of baking cookies. Sometimes, those memories aren’t even mine. Like when my brother was in grade 3 and his grade got to make dinosaur cookies as a project to raise money. I thought he was the luckiest kid alive! But, the time my dad (who is generally very patient, unless he isn’t) and I made sugar cookies? I’m pretty sure I was the luckiest kid alive that day!

One of the local coffee chains in Vancouver (J.J. Bean) has a good selection of vegan things to eat – muffins, bars, and the double chocolate brownie cookies pictured below. Seeing as I cannot go to one of their locations without buying one of those giant vegan cookies, I try to limit my visits!
