I’ve been hearing about the health benefits of matcha green tea for quite a few months now. It’s not something new, but it’s certainly been posted about more frequently lately.
What’s the deal with matcha?
- It’s “the new espresso”—it gives you energy in a more healthy way, though.
- There’s tons of minerals and nutrients. The chlorophyll in it makes it detoxifying.
Here are three ways to enjoy matcha green tea:
- Straight up
- As a Latté
- As an ingredient in a recipe
Maybe you’ve seen the green tea cupcakes, ice cream or other recipes on Pinterest? Or, add matcha to a smoothie.
If you’re worried about possible bitterness, try different flavours—chai, vanilla, mocha, etc. You can also use almond milk instead of water.
The key to making matcha straight up is a bamboo whisk, a scoop to use just the right amount of tea, a bowl or mug that will work to whisk into and hot water (not boiling). Want to see how it’s done? I put together this video: How to Make Matcha Tea.
