As someone who used to work in a popular electronics store in the North East of Calgary, I know how many people come in to the city from nearby towns, and as far away as Edmonton (about 3 hours north of Calgary). People come to Calgary from elsewhere for shopping, to check out events like the Calgary Stampede, or to enjoy something fun with their family. With all the different things that people come in to the city to do, having a nice, relaxing place to rest for the night is vital. Located close to the Calgary Airport, the Country Inn and Suites has packages designed to maximize on fun in the city.
Some of the packages that are put together are for fun places like the Calgary Zoo, and Calaway Park, plus shopping destinations like Bass Pro Shops. These packages make it really easy to plan a quick family getaway. Check out the Country Inn and Suites website for more information and rates. After a day out in the city, come back to the hotel for a dip in the family-friendly pool or spend some time in the exercise room. There’s also a nice lounge area with a fireplace where you can borrow books and return them to any other Country Inn and Suites hotel in North America.
Dining Options:
There are quite a few restaurants and fast food places located within walking distance to Country Inn and Suites Calgary Airport. You can get room service from Chili’s, or make use of the in-suite microwave and fridge for quick instant meals. I prefer to enjoy meals in my hotel room rather than go out for dinner when I can, so the microwave came in really handy for me.
Last year, Country Inn and Suites introduced a new Be Our Guest Breakfast program. There’s a beautiful space set aside for complimentary breakfast self-service just near the lobby. Some of the many options include: waffles, cereal, toast, fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins, plus juices, teas and coffee. Breakfast is one meal that I hate having to pay for when I am on vacation, so I really appreciate this inclusion. Being vegan, I did have a few options for things to eat—toast, fruit, juice and coffee.

I really liked the look of the interior of the hotel as well as the inside of the suite I stayed in. The room had a sitting area with a sofa and comfy chair, plus a really nice TV. There was also a desk with lamp and ample places to plug-in my electronics. This was a perfect little blogging getaway spot! There was free high-speed internet and a comfy chair to get some writing done. As previously mentioned, there was also a microwave and fridge available, plus a coffee maker. The bathroom was also nicely set-up with a lovely soaker tub. Next to the toiletries there was a little sign that said that they sanitize the leftover toiletries and then give them to those in need. On top of that, there are other eco-friendly things to this hotel that contributed to it earning the Green Key Eco Rating.
We are proud to receive a 3 Key rating from the Hotel Association of Canada’s Eco Rating Program. This recognition is awarded to hotels that have taken significant steps to protect the environment. We are committed to providing strong environmental programs, best management practices, training programs and engineering solutions to benefit the environment and the local community.
The bedroom had a second TV, dresser, and a really comfortable bed. I liked the fact that there was a door for privacy.

Gorgeous! It looks like a very nice hotel. I lived in Edmonton for four years from 2002-2006. During that time we only went to Calgary once and that was just to drive through to go to Banff. I'd love to go back and really check out the city.

Thanks for your comment Stacie. I think you probably have lots of other great places to check out closer to where you live – but there are some things about Calgary worth visiting for, I suppose. I would say that a short stop here on the way to the Rocky Mountains could be interesting!
