Just a short 1 hour or so drive NorthEast of Calgary is a landscape that makes you feel like you’re on the set of Land of the Lost. Drumheller is located in the Badlands of Alberta. The main draw of Drumheller is the Royal Tyrell Museum, which is a dream for children interested in geology and dinosaurs. Naturally, most kids in Calgary have been there at some point during their childhood.
Next to the Drumheller Visitor Centre is this dinosaur structure, getting children and adults alike excited to see the museum and the area in general. There is, of course, more to see and do in the area around Drumheller than the museum. I’d love to go to the Badlands and go camping sometime.

I went to Drumheller when I was a teenager. I remember it vividly my siblings and I had alot of fun. The bad lands are really cool but the museum is definately the best! (or at least having lived in alberta my whole life the best one that I have ever been in lol). It really is a very nice place to take a trip

I agree that the museum is the real highlight! That is definitely one of the best museums in Alberta. The Glenbow in Calgary and the provincial one in Edmonton are also worth visiting!

The first time I was in Canada my mother-in-law took me to Drumheller and I loved it – even as an adult. My sister-in-law has been part of the passion play that takes place at Drumheller a couple of times too.

I haven't yet checked out Passion Play but have heard good things about it!

Okay if the Royal Tyrrell knocked your socks off, wait 'til you see Dinosaur Provincial Park. About 2 hours southeast of Drumheller and the museum, this park is literally littered with dinosaur bones. Most of the finds you see at the Royal Tyrrell come from this park. The park's extraordinary topography is what sold Hollywood. It filmed one of the best westerns of all time in and around the park- Unforgiven starring Clint Eastwood. If you're in the area, be sure to stop by the Patricia Hotel where cooking your own steak is a Badlands tradition.
