Fruit-y Frozen Treats Year-Round with Yonanas

Delicious summer fruits can be enjoyed year-round as a delicious, healthy (cold) treat!  Yonanas has the perfect solution for your sweet tooth that won’t affect your health goals. Yonanas is a small kitchen gadget that churns JUST frozen fruit into creamy, soft serve “ice cream.” The possibilities for flavour combinations is endless. I’ve been trying out a few so far and I share one of the recipes, below:

Banana peach cone

I love making homemade ice cream, but knowing I have to wait a day before I can enjoy the ice cream (because there are many components that go in to homemade ice cream, like putting the cylinder in the freezer overnight), makes me sad. I love that I can put together and enjoy a cold dessert treat within 10 minutes, with Yonanas! This is great, because you can put something fresh together for company after dinner, whip up a treat mid-day, and really—it’s just all very convenient!

Convenience doesn’t come at the cost of your health, though. I always have over-ripe bananas around, since there’s only me to eat bananas, and they seem to ripen all at the same time! With Yonanas, I just stick my over-ripe bananas in the freezer (you can peel them first so it’s really easy to “Yo,” but I don’t usually bother),  then put together another frozen fruit or two—and I’m all set to go!

Banana Peach dessert

Banana Peach Yo

  1. Remove 2 frozen over-ripe bananas and 1-½ cups of frozen peaches from the freezer
  2. Leave frozen fruits out for a few minutes, until they start to “sweat”
  3. Turn on Yonanas machine
  4. Put in one frozen banana and press down the “wand” to push the banana through
  5. Add half of the peaches and do the same as above
  6. Next, add another banana
  7. Then, the rest of the peaches
  8. Finally, mix everything together in the bowl

It’s suggested that you “defrost” fruits you’ve taken from the freezer for a few minutes prior to adding them in the Yonanas machine. That’s what I’ve done with the bananas and chunks of peaches, below:

Yonanas Machine

I love that the Yonanas machine is so easy to use and uncomplicated, which works well with the cold treat that comes out—There is NO added sugar, NO saturated fat, NO cholesterol, NO added anything bad with ALL of the flavor. This is perfect for ice cream lovers, people who are lactose intolerant, vegans or anyone looking for a cool treat throughout the year.

There is a recipe book included with the Yonanas machine, but there are so many other recipe possibilities! I would love to hear from you—what combination of fruits would you use?
