Have you read the book Malala by Malala Yousafzai, yet? Maybe the name Malala is familiar to you because of her book, or maybe you’ve also heard the story about how she was shot by the Taliban on the way to school? There’s so much more to Malala’s story than that one event, which is shared in her book and you’ll also learn about in the He Named Me Malala film.
Malala’s incredible story will have its commercial-free television premiere Monday February 29 on the National Geographic channel at 8:00 pm ET/7:00 pm CT.
Here’s a trailer video so you know what to expect when you tune in on Monday evening to watch:
Why not make a night of it and invite a few friends over to watch along with you? It will be airing commercial-free, so there will be no interruptions when you’re watching it. Grab some snacks (don’t forget the popcorn!) and a few copies of Malala’s book on hand to reference and maybe read a few passages or chapters from.
You can visit supportmalala.com to easily create a (very cool) custom Facebook profile video to show your support. For every person who participates through March 10, 21st Century Fox will donate $1 to the Malala Fund. A $1 donation will also be made for every tweet using the hashtag #withMalala during this time period, for a total donation of up to $50,000.
