How to Organize your Home for Back to School

It is that time of year again.  Summer is almost over and the kids are getting ready to go back to school.  Many parents just focus on the kid’s rooms and play rooms when it comes to getting ready for back to school.  However, back to school affects the whole house so here are some great organizing tips on how to go about organizing your home for back to school.

The first room that you will need to tackle for organizing your home is the kitchen.  You may not realize how many times you and your family go in and out of the kitchen on a daily basis.  When the school year starts, your kitchen will be bustling with hurried breakfasts, coffees that you grab and go and homework on the kitchen table at night.  It is best if you organize your kitchen based on your lifestyle as well as your own family.  For instance, you can easily organize the inside of your refrigerator into sections for those who pack their lunch.

Having one point of entry in your home is very crucial in getting everyone out of the house on time in the morning.  You need to choose one spot in the home such as the foyer or utility room and use that as the point of entry.  Use this point of entry to hang jackets, place books and backpacks and take off boots.

Another key to organizing your home for back to school is to clean up the laundry room.  While you may think the bathroom is the dirtiest room in your home, the laundry room definitely sees its share of dirt and grime throughout the day.  This is certainly true for back to school time as well.  Kids have uniforms for sports that collect their fair share of dirt and grime.  You should organize the laundry room with individual laundry baskets so that each family member has their own.

Back to school time doesn’t have to be hectic and chaotic.  With these easy tips, you can organize your home for back to school.
