I know I’m getting in the mood for spring, and the freshness and brightness it represents—how about you? Some of my favourite colours for the home are in the pastel range—soft blues and mint greens and pale yellows.

Whether you choose to paint your walls one of the many great new pastel shades available this spring, like Whythe Blue (below), or add accents of pastel coloured accessories or larger furniture pieces, to your home—these bright shades are sure to cheer you.

The contrast between the wall colour and the dark wood floors makes this a vey elegant look. The architectural details in the ceiling are especially great, too.

If you’re looking for accessories rather than larger furniture or paint for an overall look, here is one idea:

What is your opinion on pastel colours in for your home?

My bedroom, when I was in high school, was the most soothing shade of lavender. A perfect girly bedroom, without being toooooo girly. White canopy bed, with lavender canopy…but the drapes were bolder in color…stripes of gold, purple, and olive green. Oh how I loved that room!

Now I tend to lean towards neutral tones, that can be matched with almost anything. Maybe it's just the "practical" in me, that says "I hate to paint"!

Oh, lavender is such a nice colour! I had my room in a light purple for a while growing up. Loved it!
