Stand Out Business Cards from Basic Invite

It may seem like in this digital age that business cards are a thing of the past with not many people using them anymore. That isn’t the case! Under many circumstances I have been introducing myself to people while at the same time handing them my business card to allow them to check out my social media profiles later.

Tips on How to Make your Business Cards Stand out

  • Increase the thickness – cards on sturdy stock feel nicer in one’s hand and make them stand out amongst other business cards.
  • Make it personal – add your branding in the colours and fonts you choose.
  • Use foil to make your cards shine in the light.
  • Make a change you can feel – try textured paper.

The business cards from Basic Invite are customizable, with colour and font options to suit your style and branding. I chose to try out different styles and colour combinations for the 5 cards that I sampled. Basic Invite has sample options for their different business cards so that you can see and feel them in person before placing a larger order.

I thought that the clear business cards that I ordered would be my favourite of the 5, but I actually really like the ones with a watercolour background and gold foil accents (seen below) the most.

I’m planning on using my new business cards to network and connect with the new people that I meet at the conferences that I am going to attend this fall and next year. After I attend conferences, I reach out to the people who I have received business cards from to reconnect with and help solidify our brief encounter.

At the last conference I attended we did hand out our business cards—but only after we introduced ourselves, had genuine conversations, and it felt natural to do so. We also connected on social media, especially Twitter, throughout the conference and afterward. In this way, we took the time to support each other, grow our in-person connections online, and everyone won.

I recommend planning out how many and what type of business cards you need well before you attend a conference or other networking event. The sample business cards from Basic Invite were delivered quickly, which meant that I had lots of time to thoroughly look at them and decide which ones to order.
