Even though you might think that you know England perfectly, there are always places that you haven’t visited yet. And whether you enjoy the busy life in the city or want to relax in the peaceful countryside, England can help you to live out your dreams, at least for the duration of your trip. History buffs, art enthusiasts, foodies and even nature lovers can find an area that can help them to deepen their interests. Of course, when someone talks about England, they usually include London as the first location. However, there are many different places that are ready to tell their story once you give them a chance. Here are the locations you shouldn’t miss when travelling to England and how to make the most of the trip.

Take In The Bustling City Life Of Manchester

When you hear the name Manchester, the city’s football scene might be the first thing that comes to your mind. And while the football community is strong and thriving, there is also a cultural scene that shouldn’t be forgotten. After all, it’s the city that gave the world bands such as Oasis or Joy Division. You can also visit many museums and galleries that can boost your imagination and help you to learn more about the history and cultural heritage of the city. If you don’t want to stay only in the city itself, you can also explore or stay in the area of Greater Manchester. For instance, you can visit the town of Oldham and find out more about its industrial history. But remember that no matter where you travel, you should keep an eye on the weather. With the Oldham weather forecast from websites like World Weather Online, you’ll be able to enjoy your trip fully and make changes to your arrangements if needed.

Enjoy The Tranquil Scenery At The Lake District

Peaceful scenery, wildlife and rich history are only a few of the things you can look forward to when visiting the Lake District National Park. If you want to have an active trip and spend at least a part of your day hiking, then this is the right location for you. Anywhere you go, you’ll be met with tranquil views that will leave you breathless. And if you want to get closer to some of the lakes, you can get on a cruise or go kayaking. That way, you’ll be able to relax and take in the peaceful scenery around you. Take the opportunity to take a break from the busy world and find your grounding again. When you go back home, you’ll feel refreshed and ready for your next adventure.

Visit The Historical Sites In York

One of the things that make York famous is the number of pubs in the city. And even if you don’t drink alcohol, it might be worth it to stop for lunch at one of the city’s historic pubs. However, York also has a rich history, and there are many sites that you can visit to learn more. Book a visit at York Minster and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere the building offers. Just a short walk away, there is a York Museum and its gardens, where you can see the medieval ruins of St. Mary’s Abbey. And if you love to read, you might be happy to hear that there are many second-hand and independent bookshops that are worth visiting. Right by York Minster, you can wander through The Minster Gate Bookshop and give a new home to some of the older books. Those who enjoy getting lost in the magical world of Harry Potter also shouldn’t miss visiting Shambles, which is said to be an inspiration for Diagon Alley in the beloved franchise.

Explore The Charm Of The English Countryside In The Cotswolds

Cotswolds is an ideal destination for those who enjoy an idyllic countryside life and have a soft spot for art and antiques. No matter where you go, you’ll be able to visit villages that look like they should be on a postcard. And if you’re trying to cut your carbon footprint, you can enjoy the wide array of local delis and restaurants that use ingredients from the region. You will be able to support the local businesses and help them to keep running and bring joy to others. If you find yourself planning a family trip to the Cotswolds, there are many places where you can get closer to the wildlife and enjoy a nice day out. The area also offers easy access to cities such as Bath or London, so you can make your trip longer if that is something you desire.

Lose Yourself In The Bristol’s Art Collection

Another place that you shouldn’t miss on your bucket list is Bristol. Of course, it offers a busy life and plenty of events if that’s what you’re interested in. But what makes the city so famous now is its connection to Banksy. Bristol is where the artist comes from, and you can see many of his artworks on the walls throughout the city. You can see his work at 11 different locations, and while you’re trying to find them, you can enjoy exploring various parts of the city. If you want to broaden your history knowledge, you can also peruse through some of the numerous museums that Bristol has to offer. You can also enjoy live music and let your love for culture soar. The city has also been the first British city to carry the title of the European Green Capital. So, if climate change is something you care about, you should visit the city to see what they do differently.

Conclusion: Look For Places That Align With Your Interests

While London might be the most famous city in England, it certainly isn’t the only place that has plenty to offer. Whether you want to explore nature or blend in with the crowds of a busy city, England can make your travelling dreams come true. However, when you’re planning a trip to get to know the country better, you should write down a list of things that you’re interested in. Then, you can choose activities and places that align with your interests. And if you feel adventurous, you might even try something new. By going to places that offer something that you want to experience or learn more about, the trip will have a higher chance of becoming one to remember.
