3 Things I’m Currently Loving January

It feels like it’s been a long month. I mean, I guess since there are 31 days this month, it should feel longer. For this year, I’ve given myself an allowance for little things that make me happy: bi-weekly flowers, one new record a month, pizza once a month (ordered, eaten out or made), as well as set-up a few automatic savings initiatives.

This has made it really easy to think back on my progress and things I’ve done throughout the month. Oh, seeing my friend Vic? That was the time we went out for pizza to celebrate my new promotion at my bridge job. The record I bought this month? Actually, I bought two (one was to celebrate my promotion)—Stars: No One is Lost and She and Him: Volume 3. Another new thing I’m implementing this year is a goal list to focus on only certain courses/programs each month (some carry over to more than one month) and also on only 3 books per month (one of which is The Lord of the Rings, which will take me until the end of June to finish with the way I am pacing it out).

3 Things I'm Currently Loving January

As a way to wrap up the end of the month, here are 3 things that I’m currently loving:

Tulips

For the past month, I’ve bought myself bunches of colourful tulips. This week, there was a special and I decided to go crazy, buying three bunches! They were less than $10 and I now have makeshift vases filled with flowers in 4 spots in my home. Looking at them makes me feel incredibly lucky and also peaceful/happy. So many times throughout my life I’ve wanted to buy myself flowers, but I always found a way to talk myself out of doing so. Now, I’ve created the tradition and it’s just something that’s worked in to my budget. It’s a happy habit, one could say.

Helix

It’s the one show I’m watching this season that constantly has me saying “Ohhh. . .my. . .GOD!” If you haven’t seen it yet (and like sci-fi shows or things in general), I would totally recommend it. Helix airs on the SyFy channel on Fridays.. This is the second season of the show and while I would definitely say you should watch season one (because it was really great), you don’t really have to in order to be able to follow along. Season two takes place a full year later in a different location with a few new characters.

Quietness

With fewer shifts at my bridge job and everyone knuckling down to get to work (on their blogs and/or businesses) in my circles, I’ve been feeling a lot less distracted and unfocused. It’s also been nice to see less people bustling around trying to buy-all-the-things for the holiday season and decorating and all that stuff, which made December really hectic and “busy” feeling (even though I didn’t really do much to celebrate).

I’d love to know what you’re currently loving in your world!
