The Apartment Book: Smart Decorating for Spaces Large and Small, by Carol Spier, is a fantastic resource for anyone looking to make some changes in their home.

Spier doesn’t specify what kind of décor one should focus on in order to have the best space plan for a small space. Instead, Carol Spier insists that you can efficiently plan any room no matter the décor.

Apartment BookThere are all kinds of helpful tips spread throughout this book. If you’re looking for a fun, coffee-table book, this is it – but it  also a great resource that I’m sure I’ll be referencing for years!

As you can see, this book isn’t just geared toward minimalist décor and clean lines. I like that Spier mentions using mirrors, and this can be seen being used in many of the photo spreads.

Our exact kitchen towels are pictured above – the Good Morning ones! They are absorbent and super-cheap. I think they’re about 50 cents each in China Town and are used in many restaurant kitchens.ApartmentApartment BookApartment BookApartment Book

Some ideas that I especially like from the book:

-adding a shelf between top of door and ceiling for book storage

-moving pictures to eye-level

-accentuating molding

This book has some great before & after photos with specific changes and reasons for changes highlighted. It isn’t about spending tons of money buying new things for Carol Spier, it’s about changing things around in your home, using what you have, and maybe adding a few key pieces to make a drastic change.

You can buy the book from major bookstores and online on Amazon or Barnes & Noble.
