A Place Where TV Watching Gets Social

My mom, brother and I used to watch episodes of Seinfeld, 90210, Melrose Place and Road to Avonlea together each week, while I was growing up. TV watching was a fun, social family activity during those times. We’re a family that likes to make comments and jokes and ask questions about the shows while we’re watching them. It’s become 2nd nature to me to watch TV shows that way. And, knowing that someone else would instantly get what I was talking about with a TV show or know why a “puffy shirt” would be so funny was pretty cool for me.

Working mostly from home, there is no “water cooler” to talk to people around. There’s no “Did you see last night’s Mad Men episode? I can’t believe what Don did!” conversations. It’s been hard for me to connect with people IRL who like to watch the same TV shows as I do, or they’re hard-core, and I just sort-of watch. Where’s a Sci-Fi/Fantasy geek supposed to go to chat about all things Game of Thrones, where there isn’t constant talk of how the TV show compares to the book series (A Song of Fire and Ice)?

Game of Thrones has definitely been the must-watch, “must find out what other people think of it” show for me in recent years. That show hits me on so many levels. It makes me happy to know that it’s also popular with others and that it’ll be around for a few more years at least!

Live chatting, interesting information that’s been shared by fellow fans, and genuine comments without name-calling or “mean-ery”—all found on something I recently discovered. Beamly is my favourite TV show hangout spot. I get alerts when my favourite shows are about to start, I can follow stars and TV shows and chat with my friends and fellow fans within TV rooms.

Check out this video I made where I talk a bit more about Beamly:

Above all, Beamly is a social networking app—which you can access on your computer, smart phone or tablet—so, be social and follow me! Follow me on Beamly. I’m excited to be sharing my thoughts on all things Game of Thrones, Mad Men and other TV shows I’m watching over on Beamly for the next 4 weeks or so. If you see me in one of the TV rooms say hi!

Beamly is THE 24 X 7 social and content network for TV and TV fans. Join me today in TV conversations and get the latest juice and gossip about your favorite shows!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Zeebox. The opinions and text are all mine.
