Celebrating Spring with Sodastream

Backyard BBQs, picnics, weekends spent at the beach, birthday parties and get-togethers — just a few things that I’m looking forward to, now that it’s officially spring! Any good gathering of people has to have food and drinks. I think that’s just a given. With spring here and summer not far off, I know I’ll be entertaining guests more often — mostly outdoors or at the beach/park.

Usually, I would be needing to run to the grocery store to pick up several litres of soda, in different flavours — because, not everyone likes the same kind. With the Sodastream Stream model, I can easily make something for everyone.

The Sodastream comes with one BPA-free bottle, but you can pick up extra bottles when you’re out buying different flavoured syrups. There are multi-packs available, though — perfect for parties and get-togethers! One of my co-workers through a moving party (for herself) a few weeks ago. She had about 15 people over, and went through all 12 of these syrups! She had a lot of fun trying out the different flavours. This is a really good idea when you first get a Sodastream, so you know which ones to pick up in full-size bottles.

My favourite flavours? Ginger ale tops the list, but I also like mixing syrups. This is one my my favourite things to experiment with. You can mix syrups together in the bottle, or just in your own drink. I recently tried something that my best friend recommended — cola and root beer. Yum! Have you tried this combination before?

Mixed soda/alcohol drinks are coming back in style these days. I’m not a big alcohol drinker myself, but it would be fun to experiment with flavours when I have guests over. A popular drink would be rum and cola, but what about something like orange soda and vodka?

There are tons of different models of Sodastream machines out right now, so it’s easy to find one that will work for your needs and your aesthetics. I really like the look of the grey/charcoal colours of the Stream model — which is beautiful enough to sit on my make-shift drink table, in my dining room.

Some of my favourite things about Sodastream machines:

  • Pressing down the button to make the water fizzy
  • Coming up with flavour combinations to try out
  • Not having to take empty cans or bottles to the recycling depot

Have you tried a Sodastream machine yet? With all the fun activities and get-togethers I have planned over the last few months, my Sodastream will be making regular features.

Sodastream is social! Check them out on twitter, YouTube and Facebook.

I received the above mentioned Sodastream product in order to write this feature and share my personal experiences.

These look really nice. I've been wanting to get one for our house. I haven't been drinking much soda lately though,.

I have heard LOTS about them but have not tried one. I like the idea but I'm worried it will encourage me to drink more sugary drinks.

They actually have flavours with no sugar, iced teas, and so many different things you can use with it. I like lime sodas with no sugar or anything. . .just fresh lime.

I got one of these for my birthday and the kids love it more than me. I think I was just so excited and got it was just blah. But it's saving me on kids drinks since they have so many options.

I like our Soda Stream! The kids think it's so cool to make our own soda. So far we like orange and root beer the best. I also love that it is all lower calorie.
