Notes From The Road Eastern USA Travel

It’s hard to believe that we’ll be heading back to Canada next week—to our new/old home in Calgary. Our stuff won’t arrive until early October, from Vancouver, so we’ll be living out of suitcases for a while longer! This month of travel has been amazing, but I look forward to seeing my family and digesting everything we’ve seen and experienced. I have a lot to share with you, since we visited so many places—but we aren’t done yet! We will be spending 5 days in New York, staying in a sublet in Brooklyn. I’m really excited to see all the museums and the Statue of Liberty etc.

I really enjoyed visiting the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, much more than visiting the Islands of Adventure in Orlando, apart from The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, of course!

Our next stop was Washington D.C.—we crammed in a lot of free national museums in to a few days! I definitely want to go back and check out the ones we didn’t get to, maybe during a different part of the year. Because Congress was back in session hotel prices were high.

After about 4 days in D.C. we decided to take a relaxing break, since Greg wasn’t feeling well—and stopped in Philadelphia for 1 day on our way to Atlantic City for 3 nights. I may start watching Boardwalk Empire again this season. . .because of a promo for the show we got our hotel room for 3 days for only $35 a night at Bally’s! We aren’t gamblers, but we wanted a nice, relaxing place to hang out for a few days before going to New York. We are leaving tomorrow morning, and I can definitely say that I have felt relaxed here. I can also say that I really miss the dryness of West Texas! It is so muggy here.

Have you been to (or do you live in) New England or New York?
