Lighthouse Park—Vancouver Travel
Lush old growth forest, sparkly waters and a lovely view of Vancouver’s city centre await you when you head to Lighthouse Park.
This park is perfect for days when you feel like taking a ‘personal day’ from work or skipping school. It’s easy to get to on a long bus ride from downtown Vancouver—the view from the bus is lovely. . . and you can feel your lungs fill with fresh, clean air as you move further away from the city centre. This is one of the best non-touristy places in Vancouver.
The cedar smell is intoxicating—in a good way. There are plenty of massive trees to hug in this park, and plenty of shade, perfect for hot summer days.
There are lots of great spots to have a picnic, or just relax and read—looking out over the water and toward Vancouver.
This is a nice stopover on a drive north from Vancouver or to Vancouver Island, or great for a few hours away from the city.
There are number of short hikes around Lighthouse Park for those that want to explore a bit of the area.
Recommended for: nature-lovers, picnic-goers, (not too young) children. . .but make sure you watch them as the rocks can be slippery.
How to get here: Take 250 Horseshoe Bay bus—it takes 45 min. to 1 hour from downtown Vancouver.
