West Coast Railway Heritage Park Squamish—Vancouver Travel

Just outside Vancouver, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park lies in the town of Squamish. It is a lovely drive from West Vancouver, up the Sea to Sky Highway and north to Squamish. The heritage park is a great destination to visit from Vancouver, whether you have a full day or afternoon to spend.

Train View

The heritage park is located in an absolutely beautiful spot—surrounded by trees, and mountains, with the ocean not being too far off.

What makes this destination so great is that it would appeal to a range of tastes/interests. Whether you or your company are history buffs, interested in trains, love nature or enjoy museums/cultural institutions, the West Coast Railway Heritage Park has something to pique your interests.

Big Train

There are tons of trains in various stages of restoration throughout the heritage park, many of which you can board and inspect. I liked looking in one of the trains which was used by Canada Post. Some of the same equipment that would have been used was on the train as well as a lot of interesting information and historical pieces from other types of trains.

Yellow Train

Children will enjoy the entire experience, especially the model trains on display. There are many trains outside, but also ones inside a huge indoor area. The indoor area is often used for wedding receptions and other special occasions. There are special dining trains set up where you can pay to have dinner prepared for you and your guests, while using period china/silverware. I think it would be a very romantic place to have an anniversary or birthday with a few close friends or family. The price is a bit steep, but I think it would be a really special experience.

Train Galley

No, I don’t think this is where they’ll prepare your meal!

Train Beaver

I absolutely love that Canadian Pacific logo!

There’s a bit of a museum you can check out with original uniforms, pamphlets, china, servingware, etc.

Entrance fees:

Adults: $15, Seniors: $12, Students: $10, Family: $40

Squamish is a nice little town where  you can stop and have a coffee and lunch after visiting the heritage park.

Location: 39645 Government Road, Squamish, BC

Do you enjoy riding or looking at trains?
