Organic Cotton Pillowcase – Nikki Designs Review

Since we spend 1/3 of our lives in bed, isn’t it important to make sure our beds are covered with the most healthy and comfortable bedding possible?

Nikki Designs

Nikki Designs creates eco-friendly home décor products for windows, beds, tables and more.

Conventional pillowcases made of polyester or other materials contain toxic chemicals which ensure that pleats stay put, and sheets are wrinkle-free. Chemicals such as formaldehyde (used to preserve dead bodies) are typically used in sheets. It is best to buy 100% cotton sheets and bed covers – and even better to use organic cotton ones.

Bedding by Nikki Designs

As Nikki says “Organic cotton is grown without chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Conventional cotton crops are sprayed with some of the most toxic chemicals in the world. One half a kilo of chemicals are used to make 1 set of bed sheets with conventional cotton!”

You can see that using organic cotton is better for the environment and health of farmers and for yourself.

Nikki Designs has beautiful eco-friendly linens for the bedroom so you don’t have to worry about toxic chemicals being next to your skin when you sleep.

I received this pillowcase from Nikki to review:

Pillowcase

Description of pillowcase from Etsy store:

Organic, soft, sustainable pillowcases.

Hand made in Canada, from 100% certified organic cotton, these pillowcases are healthy for you and the environment.

Size: Standard (20″ x 28″)

Colour: natural (cream)

This pillowcase is the perfect size for my pillow. It is soft to the touch, and will get even softer as I wash it more often. I don’t use a dryer for washing clothes/sheets, so the pillowcase still had a few lines in it from folding – which quickly came out when I ironed it. I won’t need to do this every time, though. The stitching on the pillowcase was done well and the whole thing is really high-quality! I love that this pillowcase is natural-coloured, not dyed. I know it will always go with whatever bedding I have because of the neutral colour and minimal design. Doesn’t it always seem as though you don’t have enough pillowcases? I know I always find myself short whenever guests visit.

A new set of organic cotton sheets would be perfect for your gift recipient – or how about some of Nikki Designs’ other products, like table linens, window coverings, or accessories?

Check out Nikki’s blog for updates, sales, and lots of other fun posts! You can also stay connected on Facebook and Twitter.

You’ll be able to enter to win a $50 gift certificate to Nikki Designs during Blogmania in April, when my prize pack theme is Home Green Home – it will be filled with lovely eco-friendly home products!

I received the above mentioned pillowcase to try out/review but was not compensated in any other way. My opinions are completely honest. Thank you Nikki Designs!
