Summer Strawberry Recipes Roundup

One of the things I most look forward to, as soon as it starts getting nicer outside, is strawberries. This year, I purchased a Kitchenaid blender, so I’ve been making smoothies most mornings — usually with strawberries. With the inexpensive price of strawberries so far this season, I’ve ended up purchasing and freezing several pounds of the delicious fruit already. I don’t know about you, but when I see (organic, and preferably local) strawberries, I can’t help but buy some. . .even if my freezer is already full of freezer-bags!

With all the delicious strawberries I’ve been seeing, buying and bringing home lately, I have been I enlisted the help of a few blogger friends to put together this roundup of great summer strawberry recipes. I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments—what are your favourite ways to use strawberries?

I love not having to use the hot oven or stove during the summer, and really enjoy eating fresh salads. I really appreciate this Fresh and Easy Strawberry Salad recipe from Texas Type A Mom. I just love the taste of crispy red onions in my salads, don’t you?

dairy free berry sorbet

I no longer have access to an ice cream maker, and since buying vegan ice cream is rather costly, I have few options when it comes to cold treats for the summer. Laurel from Head Ant sent me a Dairy Free Berry Sorbet recipe that I am definitely going to be making use of in the coming months!

Check out this recipe for Strawberries and Cream Gelato for another sweet treat. This recipe is from Rockin Mama. Just look at that picture!

Since I don’t really drink alcohol, I’m always looking for fun non-alcoholic drinks to try. Sober Julie put together a recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade. I love the glasses she used for her drink above.

Fried Strawberry Wontons. Doesn’t that sound delicious?! Simply Being Mommy shared that yummy-looking recipe with me.

And if those recipes weren’t enough to get you out the door to buy strawberries, check out the rest of these recipes for more ideas:

My favourite recipe is very simple and it's an old one:
500gr of strawberries made into a pure
    200ml of whipped cream
1 pack of "la reine" biscuits or sponge cake cut in thin slices
some milk to soak the biscuits

Make layers of strawberry pure and soaked biscuits and on top spread the cream.
Decorate it with halved strawberries and leave it in the fridge for about two hours before serving.
Enjoy it! It's very easy ans tasty.
