Vintage Wedding Inspired by Style Me Vintage

For as long as I can remember, I have dreamt of having a vintage style wedding. Yes, I was one of those girls who used to plan out the perfect wedding. More than anything else, I just wanted to have a gorgeous period-style wedding. The exact period of time has changed over the years — I used to dream of having a Gone with the Wind theme, with giant hoop skirts and the whole over-the-top look, but lately, my dreams have turned to more subtle themes.

The book Style Me Vintage: Weddings is one of many written by the author of the UK’s top wedding blog: Love My Dress. There are so many inspirational pictures, DIY projects and resources available on that blog. If you’re planning a wedding or like to daydream about what a vintage wedding could look like, check out the blog, and the book for tons of inspiration.vintage wedding inspired

I took the quiz inside the Style Me Vintage: Weddings book to see what era of bride I would be and what type of wedding would most suit me. Though my answers were a bit all over the place, most of them were leaning toward a 1930s wedding. I’ve put together this mood board for a 1930s wedding:

More than just a book on vintage fashion, Style Me Vintage: Weddings shows you how to get the whole package –  hair, makeup, fashion and décor for the overall vintage theme. I love the inspiration pages for each era, which show pictures of real weddings.

I do love this Edwardian dress, and the look of the era, too:

I didn't have a vintage style wedding as we didn't really get to have a traditional wedding. But I would have loved to have a 20's with a twist of swing black and white.

My style suits this era but I'm in love with the gowns from the 1800s. If only I could go back in time.
