Flor Eco-Friendly Carpet Tiles Review

I’ve always said that something simple like a rug can dramatically change an interior, both physically and emotionally.

A soft rug under foot can add a lot of comfort to your home. I’ve never had wall-to-wall carpet in any of my apartments, which I am happy about, but I’ve always wanted something in my living room and under my dining table to add to the aesthetics.

Rugs from Flor are perfect because you can get exactly what you want. They seriously have an insanely huge selection of solids, prints, and berber rug tiles in different sizes. The rug below is the one I received for review. It is 5’7′ but can easily be made bigger by adding solid-color rug tiles all around it. You can also configure it in a straight line and use it as a runner.

Stitch Rug

I love the configuration of the 6 tiles above, but we chose to arrange them as below:

Flor Tiles

About Product/My Thoughts –

The Stitch in Time 6-tile rug set fits together in many different ways to make up a 5’x7′ rug. It is valued at $149.99, and can be purchased here. I was really impressed when I opened the box from Flor – although packed well, there wasn’t excess plastic or anything unnecessary in the box. Included with the rug tiles were these:

Floor RugBesides the lovely catalogue, there were also Flor dots to attach the rug tiles together.

The rug tiles are nice and cushy, perfect under our round dining table.  When attached, you can’t even tell that the tiles are individual – they just look like a solid rug. I love the low-pile tiles because they are really easy to clean. If we were to spill anything on them, we can easily rinse them in a bit of cold water under a faucet!

So, would I recommend Flor? Would I buy their products? Absolutely! I am so pleased with the quality of the rug and the fact that I can move around the tiles and change the size of it, and I know that I’ll be able to use it in a variety of rooms/apartments I have in my life. Their prices are really reasonable, and I like that there was virtually no VOC – toxic smells – transmitted into our apartment.

About Flor –

One thing that has prevented me from adding this simple piece of home décor to my apartments in the past is the environmental concerns I’ve had with the manufacturing process and materials the rugs are made of. I’ve always wondered about the social conditions of the workers who’ve made the rugs, as well. Doing some research on Flor’s website, I came across the following information that helped me decide to choose a Flor rug for my home =

Renewable & recycled content. FLOR squares are made with varied degrees of renewable and recycled materials—e.g., 100% natural, un-dyed wool and post-consumer waste like plastic soda and water bottles. Also, FLOR squares are designed to be among the lowest VOC emitting products in the residential flooring industry.

Non-toxic.   FLOR squares are non-toxic and contain an antimicrobial that inhibits the growth of bacteria, mold and mildew.

Return & Recycle Program

FLOR consumers are encouraged to return their old squares back to us so they can be recycled into new products, ensuring that no FLOR ends up a landfill.

Responsible manufacturing. FLOR products are made in progressive, efficient facilities that use less water and energy, and thereby produce less waste.   And we employ a printing technology that requires far less water than standard printing processes.

Made in the USA. Over 90% of FLOR is manufactured in the U.S.A., which allows us better quality control and reduces the transportation costs of flying products around the globe to get them to your door.

Here are some of my other favourites from Flor –

I was given the opportunity to review this Stitch in Time Rug Set by Flor. I was not compensated in any other way – the opinions expressed are 100% my own.

Wow, I am impressed by their environmental ethos. That's hard to find retail, so I would totally consider ordering from them when I need a rug.

That's a product I could really get behind and they look so nice. The different vibes are great and some of the geometric patterns really are pretty modern but still soft. I love it!

I agree – love that I can add to it and increase the size, or remove some for a smaller rug.
