I have been spending a lot of time on my iPad lately—not surfing online, not on social media. . .but reading! You heard that right—I’ve been taking my iPad with me everywhere so that I can make the most of the few minutes here and there to catch up on my magazine reading. The Next Issue app has saved me from both lugging around multiple magazines, and also from wasting time while I’m waiting for appointments and what-not.
I recently flew from Vancouver to Calgary. Normally, this is a one and a half hour flight—no big deal, right? Well, due to several flight delays, and having to take transit from North Vancouver to Richmond, it was an all-day affair. Buying myself more and more magazines to keep occupied would’ve been super costly. But with the Next Issue app? An entire month of unlimited magazines (and so many choices of what to read!) for $9.99. I didn’t mind when my uncle took an hour to pick me up from the airport after I’d landed—I had a new issue of Condé Nast Traveler to read. I daydreamed of flying off to one of the warm and adventurous locations outlined in the magazine, rather than cold and snowy Calgary.
My magazine choices are as varied as my interests in life. Lucky for me, the Next Issue app has me covered. I ended up choosing travel, fashion, cooking, business and home organization. One thing that I like about the Next Issue app is that issues of magazines download while you’re reading, so you don’t have to wait before diving in to your favourite article.
Out of all the magazine articles I’ve been reading lately, here are 5 of my favourites:
All You (August 2013) – “Have a Bowl of Good Health” is all about choosing the the most healthy cereals to enjoy for breakfast. I like how there are tips on other healthy things you can add to make cereal even more healthy—like fruit and nuts.
Condé Nast Traveler (September 2013) The article “The Visionaries 2013” shares stories about individuals, like Freida Pinto, who are using their influence to make a difference in communities around the world. Pretty inspiring stuff!
Better Homes and Gardens (May 2013) Being the gadget-junkie that I am, I really appreciated the article “50 Make-Life-Better Innovations.” From apps to new tech, there are, well, 50 (as the article title suggests) things that I’ll be checking out this year!
Backpacker (November 2013) I would love to travel to other continents for adventure travel, but I don’t see that happening this year. The article “Best of Adventure: N. America” makes me think that I don’t need to go very far to get myself into some adventures, though!
In Style (My 2013) I’m someone who has a hard time figuring out how to wear certain wardrobe pieces, so the article “Three Ways: Striped Skirt” really helped me visualize different ways to dress up/down one single skirt. Clicking on the three outfits within the app shows me more details about each component!
