Vancouver Travel for 20-Somethings

Vancouver is well-known for a few different things: its gorgeous natural scenery, and maybe the high cost of living. That last one need not effect travels, though—and there are plenty of free or inexpensive things to do and see in the city. Here are just 20 things to do in Vancouver for 20-somethings (that other age groups will likely also enjoy):

Top 20 things to do in Vancouver

Summer is the easiest time of year to enjoy Vancouver for next to nothing, as there are always festivals, free music, markets and events to check out.  Consider planning your trip to Vancouver for Pride (end of July/beginning of August) or during the annual fireworks celebration–Honda Celebration of Light (end of July/beginning of August).

A walk along the seawall in Stanley Park is a must anytime of year. Enjoy a meal on Robson Street or Denman Street in Vancouver’s West End Downtown—then walk to Stanley Park to take in the views of the North Shore, Burrard Inlet and beyond. You’ll find people rollerblading, jogging and biking along the seawall year-round. If the weather is nice, pick up a few things at one of the grocery stores on Robson Street and enjoy a picnic in the park.

Want something fun to do that’s out of the ordinary? Carolyn Leanne Béchard suggests checking out Vancouver Theater Sports – “SO MUCH FUN!”

For night life, head to Yaletown, Gastown or the West End for lively people-watching, drinks and window shopping.

Megan Kennedy, who can be found at http://www.wanderlustmegan.com, has tons of great ideas: walk along Jericho beach, enjoy sunsets at English Bay with ice cream afterwards, check out the Vancouver Aquarium After Hours, attend White Caps game, or participate in a Forbidden Vancouver Tour.

Lisa Corriveau suggests beer tasting at Brassneck Brewery, Storm Brewing, or Parallel 49. As well as Sins of the City walking tour (by the Vancouver Police Museum), burgers & beers at Jericho Sailing Club’s Galley Patio & Grill (Best. View. Evar.), kayak rentals in Deep Cove (much less traffic than False Creek), FUSE at the Vancouver Art Gallery, and Fresh Air Cinema in Stanley Park.

Ricky Shetty of Daddy Blogger has an enormous list to keep things fun even on rainy days (summer is no guarantee of nice weather!): 100 Rainy Day Activities in Vancouver.

What are your favourite places to spend time in Vancouver?
